Heavy winds are so far the only cause attributed to two large pieces of glass breaking off from the top of the Fulton Center Tuesday night.
Employees of the Fulton Center - formerly called the ASU Foundation building - were greeted with a surprise when they arrived at work Wednesday morning.
The incident at 300 E. University Dr. closed off College Avenue until cleanup was complete by Thursday morning.
The two pieces of glass had shattered from the prism of the six-story building, and pieces of glass still hung visible from the sixth to the second floor at the Northwest corner of the building.
Stephen Reiher, Senior Director of Communications and Marketing of the ASU Foundation, said the street closure was to prevent more pieces from falling off unexpectedly.
"What happened was kind of strange," Reiher said. "We have no idea what would have caused it, why these two panes of glass.
"I don't know how big that gust of wind was," he added.
Reiher said repair plans must go through the process of having an insurance claims adjustor first survey the damage to determine overall restoration costs, which could take place next week.
But for now, he said everything at the Center is "business as usual."
The Fulton Center is home to ASU administration and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
