Police Beat: Cops report that people steal license plates


ASU police reported the following incidents Thursday:

An unknown suspect or suspects allegedly stole items worth a total of $685 from a room in the Palo Verde Main residence hall Wednesday. The residents of the room, both 19-year-old female ASU students, reportedly told police their door was locked when the theft was believed to have occurred. "They also explained that their suitemates ... who share an adjoining bathroom always leave their door unlocked," police reported. Among the missing items were clothing, DVDs, hair products, perfume bottles and sunglasses.

An unknown person or persons allegedly removed an Oklahoma license plate from a Jeep Grand Cherokee belonging to a 20-year-old female ASU student. "[The student] said she last saw her plate when she parked her car" Monday evening on the roof of Parking Structure 1, police reported. The license plate was reportedly gone when she returned Wednesday afternoon. Police said they have no suspects or leads in the case.

An unknown suspect or suspects allegedly stole a New Mexico license plate from a Chevy Geo Prism parked on the roof of Parking Structure 1 Tuesday night or Wednesday. Police reportedly have no suspects or leads.
