Name: Katy Mawrenko

Year and major: Junior, BIS - Concentrations of Psychology & Sociology

Position running for: Senator from University College

What do you think the job you are running for entails? Voting on behalf of and bringing the concerns of my constituents (from the University College) to the Undergraduate Student Government Senate.

What issues are you focusing on? Reducing costs for students, including textbooks, on-campus dining, etc.

Why did you want to run for this position? I would like to help build up the University College's College Council and be an active voice on behalf of its students.

What experience do you have? I have served as the assistant director of student services in fall 2005 and the director of student services for spring 2006, as well as held leadership positions in many other on campus organizations.

Why are you interested in student government? I want to be a part of something that can make a difference for ASU students.

In your view, what is the best thing that student government did this year? Brought back the Bike Co-op and started the Community Bikes Program

The worst? Yaser [Alamoodi]'s Playboy drama...

Where are you originally from? Scottsdale, Ariz.

What do you like best about ASU? The vast amount of topics and classes to take, and all the clubs and ways to get involved.

What do you dislike about ASU? Getting $150 worth of parking tickets so far this semester and the overcrowding of the Memorial Union, the HEAT!

What has been your favorite class at ASU? SOC316 - Courtship and Marriage

What's your ultimate career goal? To be a mom... although that's not a career...

What do you hope to do after graduating? Go to Colombia for grad school

What are your hobbies outside of school? Greek dancing, traveling, shopping, working out.

How many Facebook.com friends do you have? How many do you actually speak to on a regular basis? I have about 130 and I can honestly say that I see 90 percent on a regular basis.
