NBA opening night is upon us, and I couldn't be happier.
For six months out of the year, I either don't have an allegiance to a professional sports team (like in football and hockey), or get to see my favorite squad sparingly (only the occasional Cubs games on WGN.) But with the Suns tipping off against the Mavericks tonight, I am preparing for three nights a week of uninterrupted excitement.
The state of the team is shaky, but a promising preseason means this unit should keep pace until Amare Stoudemire gets back in February or March.
If he does return, expect the Suns to shoot back to elite status and challenge the Spurs for the Western Conference crown.
If he can't come back this year -- or if Steve Nash goes down -- then you'll find me at Packard Stadium rooting on coach Pat Murphy and the boys of summer.
