ASU police reported the following incident Tuesday:
An 18-year-old New Jersey man was arrested Tuesday at Sahuaro Hall and charged with possession of prescription-only drugs.
An officer responded to a room in Sahuaro regarding an odor believed to be marijuana. The officer realized the room was not the source of the odor. As the officer finished the room search, the suspect walked by.
The officer recognized the suspect because he had left the area when the officers responded to the call. The officer asked the suspect if he could enter and search his room. The suspect said yes.
The officer told the suspect he was searching for marijuana. The suspect replied, "there's no marijuana here." While searching the room, the officer found a clear plastic bag containing two different types of tablets in the suspect's top drawer of his closet.
The officer asked the suspect what the tablets were for. The suspect said they were "pills for working out."
The officer told the suspect he believed the blue pills were Viagra. The suspect initially said he didn't know, but then replied, "obviously it's Viagra."
The suspect said he obtained the Viagra from his father's "personal stash." The suspect said he put the pills in his drawer so his mother would not see them as he was moving into his room at the beginning of the school year.
"She hates it when I take my dad's pills," he said.
White tablets were also found with the blue pills. The suspect said the pills were either called 'T-Bomb' or something with the word 'Jet' in it" and were supplements for working out.
Tempe police reported the following incident Tuesday:
A 38-year-old Tempe man was arrested at the corner of Apache Boulevard and McClintock Drive Tuesday afternoon and charged with DUI, driving with illegal drugs and driving with a suspended license.
According to police reports, the man was operating a vehicle while impaired by marijuana "to the slightest degree." Police said he showed many signs of marijuana use -- "blood shot, watery eyes, swaying while standing, and body tremors." The man admitted having had "good hits" of marijuana four hours earlier.
