Devil Dish: Ranting Roenick

Jeremy Roenick has always been one of the most outspoken figures in all of sports. Call me stupid, but I've always wondered what an athlete as honest as the Philadelphia Flyers' center would say if he was interviewed while intoxicated. Last week I found out.

During a taping of "The Best Damn Sports Show Period," Roenick showed up for an interview fresh from the golf course, and obviously having downed a 6-pack of brew or the equivalent. With slurred speech and all, Roenick's trademark honesty evolved into a rambling banter in which he sounded off on a wide range of subjects. Rather than being offended, I laughed as hard as I have in months and considered Roenick more of a badass than ever.

Here's hoping J.R.'s drunken Q & A session will start a trend. Imagine a robot like Tim Duncan or Peyton Manning being interviewed, but tanked and with less inhibitions. Then, perhaps their interviews would be as good as Roenick's typically are when sober.
