Track and Field: Track closes season

The ASU men's and women's track and field teams will wrap up the regular season Saturday in the NAU/UA Double Dual at Sun Angel Stadium.

Knowing that 33 men and 29 women already have qualified for the NCAA West Regional, ASU coach Greg Kraft plans to hold some athletes out of competition.

"We'll hold a couple people this week in preparation for the Pac-10 Championships," Kraft said. "Amy Hastings won't run this weekend. She has a sore foot, and we need her right for the Pac-10 meet."

Sophomore distance runner Aaron Aguayo, the Pac-10 Track Athlete of the Week, will compete in the 3,000m steeplechase. Aguayo broke the school record in the 5,000m run at last week's Oregon Invitational.

"Aaron has been racing around his best event, the 3,000m steeplechase, and now it's time to get a trial run before the Pac-10 meet," Kraft said.
