ASU police reported the following incident Tuesday:
A 23-year-old Tempe man was arrested Sunday at Rural Road and Apache Boulevard and charged with DUI, DUI over .08 and DUI over .15. An officer had allegedly pulled the man over for an expired Arizona license plate when the officer smelled alcohol coming from the vehicle. The man reportedly said he had not been drinking but agreed to participate in sobriety tests. When asked again if he had been drinking, the man allegedly said he had a couple beers. Police said he was arrested based on the alleged results of the tests and the admission to drinking.
Tempe police reported the following incidents Tuesday:
A 36-year-old man was arrested Tuesday afternoon and charged with hit and run, criminal speeding, failure to stop a motor vehicle at the command of an officer and exhibition of speed. The man was allegedly stopped for criminal speeding of 61 mph in a 35-mph zone. According to police reports, the suspect allegedly fled the scene in his vehicle, when an officer contacted him. The man allegedly failed to stop the vehicle at police orders and turned eastbound onto Southern Avenue where he "spun his tires excessively, causing them to [lose] traction and smoke and squeal," police said. He then allegedly attempted to make a right turn onto Oak Street and collided with a residential structure at 1403 E. Southern Ave. He allegedly fled on foot until police detained him at the arrest location.
A 57-year-old Tempe man was arrested at Pony Acres Trailer Park, 1847 E. Apache Blvd., on Monday night and charged with four counts of aggravated assault with a firearm. The suspect allegedly pointed a Survival Arms AR7-Explorer .22-caliber rifle at four victims under the age of 15. He reportedly did so because the juveniles were playing around his trailer. The victims were not injured and the gun was allegedly found inside the suspect's residence upon investigation.
A 23-year-old Tempe man was arrested Monday morning at 424 S. 56th St., in Phoenix and charged with misdemeanor assault and criminal damage. The suspect was allegedly struck by the victim's vehicle while he was riding his bike westbound on Washington Street. According to police reports, the suspect allegedly got up and struck the hood of the victim's pickup several times. He then allegedly kicked the open driver's side door, causing the door to hit the victim in the face. The hood and driver's side door were found damaged.
