I have two words for Barry Bonds: Shut up.
Don't get mad at the media because you're going through the depression stage of post-steroid use.
Bonds, who normally addresses the media in a well-organized fashion, fell apart Tuesday in a press conference televised on ESPN.
Bonds probably asked the cameraman to focus on his son in a desperate attempt to earn sympathy from viewers.
Well, he's not getting any from me.
"I'm tired," Bonds told reporters. "I'm tired of my kids crying."
Bonds is an athlete who has never shown signs of weakness in front of the camera. Now that he's facing a steroid scandal, he's suddenly losing his composure.
Bonds never sweats under the lights. He has overcome multiple knee surgeries. And he has wooed fans across the country for years.
Faced with the prospect of being on the shelf for at least half the season, he's breaking down faster than an old pickup with 200,000 miles.
My message to Bonds? Go sell sympathy somewhere else. We're all stocked up here.
