Police Beat: What's your sign?


Tempe Police reported the following incidents Friday:

A 21-year-old male ASU student was arrested early Friday morning on charges of theft and criminal damage near his apartment at The Commons, located at 1111 E. Apache Blvd. Police say the man stole several city street signs. Police allege the man "intended to deprive the city of these signs as they were found in his apartment."

A 21-year-old male ASU student was arrested on the 600 block of South Mill Ave. early Friday morning and charged with obstructing a public thoroughfare. The man was reportedly seen walking from the median of Mill Avenue into traffic and allegedly caused a vehicle to "make a panic stop to avoid running him over." Police report the man "was very intoxicated and said he was trying to hail a cab."

A 19-year-old Tempe man was arrested near the intersection of Rural and Terrace roads early Friday morning after police reportedly discovered warrants had been issued against him. Police allegedly found the man to be in possession of two ounces of cocaine, and he was charged with possession of narcotic drugs for sale.

A 53-year-old transient woman was arrested near the intersection of Forest Avenue and Seventh Street early Friday morning and charged with criminal trespassing and failure to obey a court order. The woman was allegedly found camping in the backyard of a gated ASU property with posted no trespassing signs. Police report the woman "has been put on probation and ordered out of the downtown area."
