ASU police reported the following incidents Wednesday:
A 34-year-old Phoenix woman was arrested late Tuesday night near the intersection of Rural and Broadway roads after police reportedly discovered a warrant had been issued against her.
An officer stopped the woman after allegedly observing her driving with her headlights off. Police reported a driver's license and warrant check revealed a Tempe warrant issued against the woman for alleged failure to appear in court to address a previous charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. The woman was released to the Tempe Police Department later that night.
A female ASU student reported to the Department of Public Safety that last weekend, a man called her and attempted to defraud her. The man allegedly promised she would receive $5,000 to $25,000 in grant money if she allowed him to take $250 out of her checking account. The man knew her bank, routing number, account number and Social Security number, the woman reportedly told police. The woman reportedly agreed to let the man take funds out of her account but put a hold on her account after determining the man was attempting to defraud her. Police reported no funds were taken from the woman's bank account. DPS reports the case is still open.
