Devil Dish: The steroid controversy

Looking to bulk up this spring? If dedicating countless hours in the weight room isn't for you, you're not alone.

Jose Canseco's new book and recent appearance on "60 Minutes" have spawned more controversy on steroid use in Major League Baseball.

In "60 Minutes" whistle-blowing fashion, Canseco blasted off a list of alleged fellow juicers. If Canseco is going down, it seems like he's bringing everyone else down with him. It's about time.

Canseco's steroids admission also raises questions about the legitimacy of his 1988 MVP award.

That year, Boston Red Sox outfielder Mike Greenwell didn't cheat and hit .325 with 22 home runs, 119 RBIs and had 16 stolen bases. He finished second in the balloting, and likely lost out on a major payday.

Jason Giambi, who won the 2000 American League MVP, reportedly told a grand jury last year that he used steroids.

When is Major League Baseball going to start handling its business? If it is going to put asterisks by records and strip awards, now is the time to start. Or start recognizing the clean players who take the high road and live in the shadows of false giants.
