Tempe police reported the following incidents Wednesday:
Police and paramedics responded to an alleged stabbing at the 200 block of West Hermosa Drive at 6:40 a.m. Wednesday. Two men residing in an apartment there reportedly got into an argument that ended with the 25-year-old suspect allegedly stabbing the 24-year-old victim 12 times and slashing him across the face with a knife. Upon arrival, police found the victim several hundred yards away from the apartment and transported him to a local hospital. The victim is in serious but stable condition and is expected to survive. Police reportedly found the suspect just outside the apartment and took him into custody without incident. He was booked into the county jail on one count of attempted second-degree murder.
A 33-year-old Tempe man was arrested at the 700 block of South Roosevelt Street on Tuesday on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and prescription and narcotic drugs. Police had been called to the scene to check on the man's welfare and reportedly found the man hunched over in the driver's seat of a vehicle. Police allege that the suspect "was asked to step out of the vehicle, at which time he informed us he had a pipe in his front driver side door." Police also allegedly found prescription drugs in the man's vehicle. The man was booked and released pending further investigation.
An 18-year-old Phoenix man was arrested near Interstate 10 and 40th Street in Phoenix on Tuesday on charges of third-degree burglary, possession of burglary tools and violation of a driver's license restriction. Tempe police received a call of a car break-in near the intersection of Rural and Broadway roads involving a white Nissan Maxima. Police stopped the suspect as he was driving a car that matched the description of the Maxima. The driver reportedly told police that he was driving the Maxima while his brother (who allegedly fled on foot when police stopped the vehicle) broke into a Lincoln Navigator. Police allegedly found "screwdrivers and other tools commonly used in burglaries" in the car and also reported that the suspect was not wearing eyeglasses or contacts, in violation of a restriction on his driver's license.
A 21-year-old Tempe woman was arrested Tuesday night at her residence, near the intersection of McClintock Drive and Apache Boulevard. The woman was charged with assault and disorderly conduct after she allegedly struck her boyfriend with an open hand to the face. "She then threw some of his stuff over the third-floor balcony," police reported. The boyfriend allegedly had a small cut on his wrist from the incident.
A 20-year-old Tempe man was arrested near the intersection of Rural Road and Sixth Street during a traffic stop early Tuesday morning. The man, who was a passenger in the stopped vehicle, was charged with minor in possession of alcohol after police determined that he had alcohol in his system.
