Police Beat: Man wanted to hit some dingers...on a woman


Tempe police reported the following incidents Monday:

A 22-year-old Tempe man was arrested Saturday and charged with domestic violence assault near the 1100 block of West Fifth Street. The suspect allegedly punched his live-in girlfriend in the face, causing bruising. The man also allegedly threatened the life of their 2-month-old child if she tried to leave him.

A 21-year-old Brookfield, Conn., man was arrested Saturday and charged with burglary and aggravated assault near the 5000 block of East Van Buren Street. Police said the man allegedly entered another subject's apartment with a baseball bat and was intent on assaulting the resident. The suspect then left the residence when he learned the man was not home. When confronted by another resident of the apartment complex outside, the suspect allegedly struck the man with the bat, causing injuries.
