Devil Dish: Respect

Can anyone make sense of these boneheaded polls?

ASU hammers Washington State 45-28, yet stays at the No. 20 spot in the AP poll and drops one spot to No. 21 in the coaches' poll. How does that happen?

In the latest Bowl Championship Series standings, ASU is ahead of Miami, Louisiana State, Iowa, Virginia Tech and Boston College. It trails all those teams in the AP poll.

The fact that ASU is ranked lower than Iowa after beating the Hawkeyes earlier this season is an absolute joke. Both teams have 8-2 records and are positioned near the top of their conferences.

Sparked by a 29-27 victory over Minnesota, Iowa has won six in a row. ASU has triumphed in three of its last five games, and its only losses are against No. 1 USC and No. 4 California.

It's no mystery that ASU isn't receiving the respect it deserves. The Tie Guys know it, too. On Sunday, one of them predicted that UTEP would pass ASU in the bye week.
