Police Beat: Library employee suffers from cut knuckle


Tempe police reported the following incidents Friday.

A 28-year-old Ganado, Ariz., woman was arrested Friday at the Owl's Nest, at 501 S. Mill Ave., and charged with forgery of a credit card after she allegedly attempted to pay for her bill by forging a signature from a stolen credit card.

A 26-year-old Lazy, Wash., man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault Friday near 501 S. Mill Ave. Police said the man was involved in a fight with an unidentified subject when he pulled out a 3-inch knife. Security staff from the Library Bar and Grill, located at the same address, tried to separate the two men when police say the suspect allegedly cut one of the bar employees on the knuckle.

A 26-year-old transient was arrested Friday at the Mervyn's located on the 800 block of East Southern Avenue and charged with using a device to shoplift after he allegedly used linesman's pliers to remove a security tag from a pair of shoes. The suspect was detained at the scene by store security, which observed the suspect as he allegedly walked out of the store wearing the stolen shoes.
