I read, with great pride, the persuasive article written by Kevin Riley regarding John Kerry [Oct. 18 The Web Devil]. My nephew has learned much about how to frame an argument to make people believe his view of the world.
I'm sure his skills will serve him well in the future. Unfortunately, he has resorted to the old trick of mixing fact with fiction in order to persuade his readers. Republicans are good at that, and Kevin is no exception.
Kevin, just like George Bush, implied that John Kerry would first require the United Nations' approval before going to war.
In fact, Sen. Kerry has said just the opposite: He would never require any other nation's approval before going to war to protect America. However, unlike George Bush, he would make sure war was the last resort, wouldn't lie to other nations about the reasons for war, and would use diplomacy to ask for their help.
That's what a true leader does.
John Kerry has spent a lifetime serving his country, while George Bush has simply slid by on the coat strings of his family name. It's time to elect a president who has the intellect and integrity to lead us in these trying times. It's time to elect a president who will not only recognize that "it's hard work," but one who will actually do the work. It's time to elect John Kerry.

Kerry's hidden heritage
Until very recently, the fact that John Kerry's grandfather was an immigrant Austrian Jew was kept very secretive -- it never was mentioned during all his congressional/senatorial campaigns. (As to why this silence, one can draw their own conclusions.) In fact, John's brother, Cameron, is an orthodox Jew.
Being an opportunistic elitist and seeking a political career in Massachusetts, he acquired the Irish surname, "Kerry." As one Bostonian wrote, "If it was politically expedient to be a Hindu, John Kerry would have adopted that religion."
After 18 years, he dumped his wife and mother of their two daughters, divorced her and courted the Gilbey Gin heiress. However, when the widow Teresa Heinz became available, he wed the older billionairess.
Somehow, when I think of John Kerry, the word "honorable" does not come to mind. It is truly disturbing that a candidate with such an unprincipled and overly ambitious persona could possibly sit in the White House. Granted, Kerry is a great debater, but that is not a qualifier for the Oval Office.

'Horsing around' letter countered
In response to Mario Felix's declaring those present at the "Joe 6-pack" party were idiots, I would like to counter his conclusion. "Get those animals off those horses" simply reinforces the fact that all humans are animals. We need to realize this and disallow any species-ism against non-human animals.
Some people had cans with rocks, which when shaken, alerts the horses not to try to charge into the crowd. This is for the safety of the people and horses, which is what compassionate people will always uphold.
Instead, the cops were threatening violence and horribly mistreated the horses, as evidenced by them not being able to control them. It is horrible enough to use misplaced authority against the people, but abusing the animals is completely unnecessary.
Had you known the facts, Mr. Felix, you might have supported us instead of calling us idiots.
