Police Beat: Scottsdale man takes Chili's for a ride


Tempe police reported the following incidents Wednesday:

A-22-year-old Chandler man was arrested at the Tempe police station Monday and charged with a drive-by shooting that occurred in September 2003. The suspect allegedly drove a Jeep Cherokee past a group of seven people on Pegasus Drive in Tempe. Police say one of the four people in the car fired three times at the group, wounding one in the arm and chest.

A 20-year-old Tempe man was arrested Monday night after he allegedly got into a fight with his roommate in their apartment near the 1000 block of E. Don Carlos Ave. The suspect was charged with aggravated assault after he allegedly shattered a glass plate over his roommate's head, causing several cuts and a bump.

A 20-year-old Phoenix man was arrested at an apartment near the 4000 block of E. Hidalgo Ave. and charged with aggravated assault, criminal damage and trespassing Wednesday morning. The suspect allegedly kicked down the door to his ex-girlfriend's house and entered with an unknown accomplice. Police say the pair then punched the woman's new boyfriend multiple times and threw him into a window.

ASU police reported the following incidents Wednesday:

A 21-year-old Scottsdale man was arrested Thursday night at Chili's on the corner of Mill Avenue and University Drive. The suspect was charged with shoplifting after he allegedly tried to leave without paying a $100.28 bill for food and drink. Reports say the suspect had been buying drinks for others in the restaurant.
