Sept. 6 will go down as a day when a champion was dethroned. With his win at the Deutsche Bank Championship on Monday, Vijay Singh ended arguably one of the greatest streaks in professional sports history.

For 264 consecutive weeks, Tiger Woods was ranked the No. 1 golfer in the world. While Woods has struggled, by his standards, for the past couple of years, he still played well enough to be the best at a sport that is physically and emotionally demanding.

Whether you like Tiger Woods doesn't take away from the fact that he is one of the most dominating athletes in all of sports, and my hat goes off to him.

After being ousted from his top spot, my hope is that Woods will regain the fire he had during his first couple years on tour. Unfortunately, his desire has taken a back seat to a Swedish model named Elin Nordegren, and it's hard to blame him.
