Things went so well when ASU officials hosted a regional for the men's NCAA tournament in March that the powers that be decided it best to return the event to the Valley.
Last week, America West Arena was chosen to host another regional, this time for the Big Dance in 2008. The event will take place on March 27 and 29, 2008.
Other hosts for regionals in 2008 included Houston, Detroit and Charlotte, N.C. The Final Four take place in the RCA Dome in Indianapolis, Ind.
Pedroia up for player of the year: The 2004 Golden Spikes Award, given to the nation's top college baseball player, will be announced at 2:30 p.m. today. ASU junior shortstop Dustin Pedroia is one of five finalists for the award.
Pedroia is the seventh finalist from ASU in the 27-year history of the award. This season, he batted .393 with nine home runs and 49 RBI.
The award winner will be announced on Fox Sports Net Arizona.
Other finalists include Mississippi's Stephen Head, Texas' Huston Street, Rice's Wade Townsend and Long Beach State's Jered Weaver.
