Robbery on campus

ASU police urged students to be wary of robberies after two incidents on campus last weekend.

On Saturday about 11:50 p.m., a woman was walking alone across the south parking lot of Adelphi Commons when a suspect jumped on her from behind, forced her to the ground and demanded she give him her wallet. The suspect fled without the wallet after a witness yelled at him.

On Sunday about 6:40 p.m., a woman was robbed at gunpoint while sitting in her car in Lot 57, near Alpha Drive. The suspect took various items, including the victim's cell phone.

The ASU police crime prevention unit suggested the following to prevent possible incidents: When walking alone, keep alert and be aware of your surroundings. When approaching your vehicle, check underneath it and in the back seat. Use a buddy system to avoid walking alone.

If you are robbed, police say to remain calm, do not make sudden movements, and try to observe the suspect so a description can be given later.

Students are urged to take advantage of the Safety Escort Service (480) 965-1515 and ASU police at (480) 965-3456.
