Police Beat: Prescription for disaster


Tempe police reported the following incidents Thursday:

An 18-year-old Tempe man was arrested on charges of possession of prescription drugs and disobeying park curfew near the 800 block of East Tempe Town Lake. He allegedly was observed at Linear Park after it closed. A search revealed a green tablet in a metal container on his keychain. It was confirmed to be a controlled substance by poison control.

A 30-year-old Phoenix woman was arrested on charges of obtaining a narcotic by fraud and obtaining a prescription drug by fraud near the 6400 South McClintock Drive. She allegedly had called Walgreens, posing as an employee of a doctor's office, to approve prescriptions. She was arrested when she arrived at Walgreens to pick them up.

A 35-year-old Tempe woman was arrested on charges of assault and domestic violence near the 1200 block of East Del Rio Drive. She allegedly punched her boyfriend at least twice in the face after he came home drunk and woke her up because she was sleeping in a separate room.

A 41-year-old Sun City man was arrested on three counts of aggravated assault near the 1500 block of South Mill Avenue. He allegedly kicked a nurse, an emergency medical technician and a security guard in the arms when he was being admitted to Tempe St. Luke's Hospital for severe intoxication.

A 23-year-old Chandler man was arrested on charges of sex assault, aggravated assault and failure to appear near the 100 block of East Fifth Street. He allegedly committed aggravated assault on his ex-girlfriend while in her home, then forcibly had sexual intercourse with her.
