Devil Dish: Free agency, trades ruin baseball tradition

Baseball's off-season is becoming almost as eventful as the regular season.

Every year, it seems that bigger and bigger names are on the trading block or available for free agency.

Imagine a team of Vlad Guerrero, Miguel Tejada, Curt Schilling, Gary Sheffield, Ivan Rodriguez, Kevin Brown and even Alex Rodriguez. Believe it or not, all of those players are just a handful of major leaguers who are rumored to be changing teams, if they haven't already.

Free agency and trade rumors have made baseball more intriguing to watch, but unfortunately, it gets harder and harder for traditionalists like yours truly to enjoy the game.

I absolutely love baseball, but it hurts to see even the best players jump teams every few years. Our generation may be the last to see players like Tony Gwynn and Cal Ripken Jr. stay with one team for their entire career.
