Recent newsroom debate has focused on the best player in Major League Baseball with all of the usual suspects listed. Barry Bonds, Alex Rodriguez and Albert Pujols have all had their hats tossed in.
Missing from this prestigious list is the TRUE dominant force, Vladimir Guerrero.
Stuck in the unfriendly and unpopulated confines of Olympic Stadium - the armpit of baseball - Vlad the Impaler is one of the most feared forces in right field, and he's only 26. Last season, he fell just one home run shy of joining the exclusive 40 home run-40 stolen bases club, and if it weren't for an early season injury in 2003, he would be up there again. If the Expos do pull away and win the wild card, thank No. 27 for his part.
So next time you and your buddies are enjoying the beverage of your choice, remember to include your friend stuck up north of the border in this hearty bar-stool debate.
