When I heard Ohio State star tailback Maurice Clarett was facing suspension because he allegedly cheated on a midterm, I thought to myself, "What an ass this kid must be."

I mean, the guy spanked his opponents last season, setting OSU's freshman record with 1,237 yards rushing and playing a pivotal role in the team's national championship win.

Then he goes and screws up this season by cheating on a test? What a moron!

But, as it turns out, OSU and the NCAA didn't suspend Clarett from playing in "multiple games" this season because of a test; they did it because he allegedly exaggerated "the value of items stolen from a borrowed car he was driving," according to an Aug. 27 Associated Press article.

What?! Who the hell cares if he tweaked an insurance claim? I can't say I wouldn't do the same if my car were stolen.

Suspending Clarett from multiple games for such a reason is absolutely ridiculous. This kid has a gift and a passion: playing football. The decision to suspend him could stop the team from winning its second championship in a row and jade an amazing player.

What asses OSU and the NCAA must be.
