ASU basketball player Donnell Knight was recently arrested after police responded to an incident at his home and found that he had an outstanding warrant.

Knight, a starting small forward and sociology senior, was arrested Feb. 3 for a warrant issued for failure to appear in Mesa City Court for an August 2001 traffic violation.

The athlete posted a $500 bond and was released, according to an ASU police report issued Wednesday

Authorities arrived at Knight's apartment in the on-campus Towers complex after receiving a call that Knight's girlfriend, Shenita Marcane Thomas, had injured her arm while accidentally breaking a window.

Thomas told police she left Knight's apartment after an argument and then later returned to get her jacket. She told police she was unable to gain Knight's attention despite knocking repeatedly on the door, so she banged on the window, accidentally breaking it.

Campus Security aide Sarah Pawley reportedly saw the incident.

"I continued to watch as the resident of the apartment opened the door and threw some things outside," Pawley said. "The woman paced back and forth a couple of times ... and then struck the window again, breaking it."

Thomas reportedly was bleeding from her right arm and officers treated her at the scene. Though she was not taken into custody at the scene, she was charged with criminal damage and disorderly conduct.

After conducting a routine background check, police realized Knight had an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court on Sept. 25, 2001. Knight was initially charged when he was pulled over after blocking traffic with a friend's car. According to Mesa police reports, he was charged for driving with a suspended license, stopping in a roadway and having no Arizona registration or proof of insurance.

According to officials within the basketball program, the matter is being handled internally, and Knight will play in the Sun Devils' game tonight against USC.

Knight declined to comment.
