ASU student killed in collision

College of Business student and information technology staff member Eric Patterson was killed Sunday evening while riding his motorcycle near Tortilla Flats, an area near the Superstition Mountains, on Apache Trail.

Patterson, who turned 31 on Oct. 20, crossed over a median and collided with an oncoming sport utility vehicle.

Patterson was a full-time staff member working as a technology support analyst and was also pursuing an undergraduate degree at ASU.

Patterson's manager, Chris Tyler, said Patterson was a great person.

"There wasn't a person here who didn't love Eric," he said. "He was quick witted, definitely had a sense of humor and everyone just enjoyed working with him."

One of Patterson's duties as a support analyst was making sure that all classroom technologies were working properly.

No funeral arrangements have been made yet.
