Devils fans cheer despite getting drenched from Arizona monsoon rains at Saturday night´s game.

Fourth quarter highlights

Freshman tailback Cornell Canidate scored on a 6-yard run for the quarter's only touchdown.

Sophomore quarterback Andrew Walter remained in the game after relieving freshman Chad Christensen in the third quarter.

Third quarter highlights

Though they were behind entering the third quarter, the Sun Devils now have a comfortable 39-13 lead going into the fourth.

Junior wideout Shaun McDonald caught his second and third touchdown passes of the game, both courtesy of backup quarterback Andrew Walter. ASU also scored on a safety from junior defensive end Terrell Suggs.

But the Devils earned a significant lead after interception returns for scores by senior linebacker Josh Amobi and sophomore defensive end Connor Banks.

The four touchdowns and safety came within a six-minute span.

On the play in which Amobi caught a deflected pass and returned it for a touchdown, UCF quarterback Ryan Schneider was injured after a hit by Suggs.

Following the hit, which left Schneider in a heap on the turf, ASU senior defensive tackle Danny Masaniai mocked the UCF offense by dancing over the injured quarterback. His actions provoked a UCF player to momentarily charge him and smack him in the head with a forearm. UCF was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Freshman linebacker Jamar Williams intercepted UCF quarterback Ryan Schneider early in the third quarter to set up an ASU scoring drive that put them ahead for the first time in the game.

Walter, a sophomore, relieved freshman quarterback Chad Christensen with 10 minutes remaining in the quarter on the drive following Williams' s interception. After two plays, he was tackled hard after scrambling and left the field.

Christensen then came back into the game and completed a 45-yard pass to senior tight end Mike Pinkard. But Walter quickly reentered the game and, after getting tackled for a loss, connected with McDonald for a 13-yard strike to give ASU their first lead of the night.

Second quarter highlights

The Sun Devils have created a swing in momentum and narrowed Central Florida's halftime lead to 13-10.

Freshman quarterback Chad Christensen connected with junior wideout Shaun McDonald for a 5-yard touchdown halfway through the quarter.

Earlier in the quarter, after ASU hustled to down a punt at the UCF 7-yard line, the Knights offense went flat.

On the ensuing UCF drive after ASU's passing touchdown, sophomore safety Riccardo Stewart popped the ball out of the hands of UCF wideout Doug Gabriel; the ball was recovered by sophomore safety Jason Shivers.

Shivers fumbled the ball on the return, but junior defensive end Terrell Suggs recovered. The play excited the ASU crowd, but the offense could not convert after the turnover.

Central Florida kicked a 23-yard field goal seconds into the quarter to make the score 13-3.

First quarter highlights

Though the rains have subsided at a soggy Sun Devil Stadium, University of Central Florida leads 10-3 after a first quarter marred by ASU errors.

Freshman tailback Hakim Hill fumbled with about a minute left in the quarter, setting up UCF in ASU's red zone. They will have fourth down at the Sun Devil 6-yard line when the second quarter begins.

The heavens over Tempe opened up just as senior kicker Mike Barth drilled a 47-yard field goal to tie the game at 3-3 with just over five minutes left.

Skyler Fulton, a junior wideout, partially blocked a Central Florida punt with over three minutes left to set the Devils up at midfield. But freshman quarterback Chad Christensen was forced to scramble on third down of the ensuing drive.

After ASU's punt, UCF wideout Doug Gabriel shook off a tackle by sophomore cornerback R.J. Oliver and dashed into the end zone for an 80-yard score.

Central Florida scored first on a field goal.

After the first quarter: Central Florida 10, ASU 3
