Police Beat


ASU police reported the following incidents Monday:

• Two 29-year-old men were arrested on charges of trespassing and possession of drug paraphernalia at the Tower Apartments, 525 S. Forest Ave., after police saw the two in the pool area smoking marijuana. They admitted to using a glass pipe to "smoke bud."

• Criminal damage was reported at Parking Structure 5 after three gate arms were broken off the entrances. Estimated damage is $600.

• Arson was reported after a rubber garden hose was set on fire in the northwest stairwell of Manzanita Hall.

• A fire extinguisher was taken from Parking Lot 60 outside Manzanita Hall. Estimated loss is $100.

• Criminal damage was reported in Parking Lot 50 after a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta was sprayed with a fire extinguisher. Estimated damage is $10.

• An 18-year-old Tempe woman was found intoxicated outside Palo Verde East. Police found a fictitious license lying in a pool of her vomit. Police had her transported to Tempe St. Luke's Hospital after it was determined that she could not walk to her room under her own power.

• A bike was reported stolen from the Computing Commons bike rack. Estimated loss is $100.

Tempe police reported the following incidents Monday:

• A 19-year-old Mesa man was arrested in the 1200 block of East Vista Del Cerro Drive on charges of assault and criminal damage. The man reportedly assaulted his friend and kicked over a scooter.

• A 36-year-old Tempe man was arrested in the 500 block of West Baseline Road on charges of assault after he allegedly hit his wife on the mouth, cutting her lip open.

• A 40-year-old Tempe woman was arrested on charges of assault in the 400 block of West Baseline Road after she allegedly grabbed her son by the arm and hit him in the face. The woman was reportedly intoxicated and became violent after her son would not let her drive.

• A 22-year-old Tempe man was arrested on charges of assault in the 1200 block of North Oleander Street after he allegedly hit his wife in the lower abdomen during an argument.

• A 23-year-old Guadalupe man was arrested on charges of shoplifting after he reportedly removed merchandise worth $1.99 plus tax from Sun Foods, 1845 N. Scottsdale Road.

• A 42-year-old Tempe man was arrested on charges of assault and criminal damage after he reportedly pushed his girlfriend, tore her clothing and sliced her hand with a razor blade at their residence in the 1200 block of West Fourth Street.

• A 47-year-old Tempe man was arrested on charges of assault in the 1600 block of East Dunbar Street. The man allegedly pushed his girlfriend against the wall, picked up her legs causing her to fall, and held her down by sitting on her.
