'Defending the Caveman' a hit at Gammage

With Defending the Caveman, Rob Becker has done the unthinkable.

Not only has he discovered the difference between men and women, but he hasn't written a book on it.

Instead, he wrote a hilarious two-hour stand up comedy routine that leaves everyone laughing. More importantly, he does not insult either gender in the process.

According to Becker, "women are not hindered by logic."

The differences, he says, are cultural and not altogether bad. The problems arise when men and women try to communicate with each other without recognizing these differences.

He claims that men are hunters and therefore can only focus on one goal at a time. Whereas women are gatherers and can multi-task. This is why men can watch TV and women can do laundry, cook, shop, and find Billy's lost shoe all at the same time.

Becker's Defending the Caveman is the longest running solo play in Broadway history.

Becker is not out to change men and women, but merely to have fun and perhaps help bridge the chasm between the genders.

Defending the Caveman will be showing through Nov. 11 at Gammage Auditorium.
