Arizona State defensive back Armand Perry will make an early retirement from football after suffering multiple injuries through the span of his career. He made the announcement on Twitter on Wednesday.

Perry missed two games in 2016 with what he said were labrum tears in his hip and shoulder, and also revealed that he suffered from turf toe. The 6-foot, 190-pound defender missed most of the 2015 season with a grade three ankle sprain with ligament and bone damage, which caused him to be medically redshirted that season. In 2014, his freshman season, Perry was mostly healthy and recorded his only career interception, one that sealed a road victory over the Washington Huskies.
Over 24 games in his career, Perry tallied 108 total tackles (7.0 for loss), 2.5 career sacks and one interception.
With his retirement, Perry loses the opportunity to play in the defensive backfield with his younger brother Alex Perry, who is entering his freshman season after committing to ASU as a four-star recruit in the offseason. Both of the Perry brothers are from Las Vegas and played football at Bishop Gorman High School.
