Tempe Police reported the following incidents Sunday:

A Mesa man was arrested Jan. 8 on East Elliot and South Price roads on suspicion of unlawful flight from law enforcement, according to a police report.

The man and three of his friends went to a house in Chandler to commit a robbery, and he waited in the car as the three others entered the house, according to the report.

They returned to the car with marijuana and money and drove away, police reported. As they were driving, the man saw a police car in the area and decided to flee, according to the report.

The officer tried to pull him over by turning on his lights and sirens, but the man sped away on the freeway to get away from the officer, police reported.

As they fled, one of the passengers fired a shot into the air out of the back window to keep the police away from the car, according to the report.

However, the man lost control of his car exiting the freeway and crashed into the median, police reported.

The car was inoperable and four people fled and were not arrested at that time, according to the report.

After interviews with the house owner and other co-defendants, the man was identified as the one driving the car, police reported.

He was arrested and admitted in an interview that he was the one driving the car and fleeing the police, according to the report.

He said he fled because he knew the men committed a robbery, but his role in the operation was driver and he didn’t know what specifically happened in the house, police reported.

He told police the three people had tried to rob the house earlier that day, but he said he had failed and that he wasn’t sorry for what he did, according to the report.

The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held to see a judge, police reported.
