Two ASU football players arrested on suspicion of burglary

Two ASU football players were arrested on Sunday night. They have subsequently been released from the program.

ASU football players redshirt sophomore safety Jayme Otomewo and junior defensive lineman Deonte Reynolds were arrested on suspicion of second-degree burglary on Sunday night.

The two were accused of stealing credit cards from off-campus ASU housing, according to court documents.

Both have been cut from the football team, associate athletic director Mark Brand said in an email.

Head coach Todd Graham spoke after practice on Tuesday.

"They've been dismissed from the program and that's about all I can say," he said. "Everybody in our program's clear and understands the expectations and our standards and our values."

Reynolds was a junior college player for two years at Contra Costa before transferring to ASU. He was ranked as the No. 37 junior college player by Rivals.com. He redshirted this season.

Otomewo did not receive playing time this season. Coming out of high school, ESPN ranked him as the No. 34 safety.

News of the arrest broke on Monday, the same day that ASU received two commitments from junior college offensive linemen: AJ McCollum and Tyron Rising. Tight end Jared Bubak, the top-ranked prospect out of Nebraska, signed a Grant-in-Aid letter with ASU on Monday.
