ASU hockey junior goaltender Robert Levin has been ruled out indefinitely pending an MRI scheduled for late Wednesday evening.
Head Coach Greg Powers told reporters at Oceanside, Wednesday, that Levin had tweaked his ankle following an early goal in the Sun Devils second of three games on the road versus the Connecticut Huskies. Levin was pulled from the game Saturday with no sign of injury and did not participate in team practice.
Levin, who returned to the Sun Devils depth chart this year following an ACL tear that ended his 2014 season prematurely in February, will likely not suit up for the Sun Devils in their upcoming home-stand versus the University of Southern New Hampshire at Oceanside Arena.
In his absence, freshman goaltender Ryland Pashovitz along with freshman David Jacobson are both expected to see ice time in the upcoming home-stand for the Sun Devils.
Pashovitz started in two of three games for ASU during their road trip to Connecticut, along with one game in the previous week to Alaska. The freshman made 52 saves in relief versus Quinnipiac last Friday, the Sun Devils lost 5-0.
Jacobson is coming off his NCAA Division I debut for ASU in their 5-1 loss to UConn the following day. Jacobson is expected to start in net for the Sun Devils in at least one of their upcoming home games versus Southern New Hampshire.
"(Jacobson) played well, we put him in against UConn and he did great," Coach Powers said. "He is going to get a start and he will be ready."
