Alpha Phi sorority sister Heather Hauge and Sigma Chi fraternity brother Tyler Anderson found love at none other than an '80s-themed party here at ASU.

On Saturday evening in the Secret Garden the alumni shared their vows to spend the rest of their lives in holy matrimony. From strangers to best friends, these two have spent the last nine years together and finally decided to tie the knot.

"It was truly love at second sight," Hauge said during her wedding vows to Anderson at the alter. "I distinctly remember telling my sorority sisters that guys like you are the reason why I could never date a frat boy."

However, this was not the same case for Anderson when the two first met.

"She was wearing a polka dot dress and I just went to talk to her," he said. "I wouldn't let her out of my sight the whole night. I finally got her number and hung out with her. I just kind of knew when I saw her that she would be in my life forever. It was a long time ago and it was at ASU. So we figured we'd come back here and come back full circle."

Although Hauge needed a little more convincing, Anderson eventually found the way to her heart a couple months later.

"You were everything I truly needed," she said in her vows. "Today, I get to marry the person that I think God created to be my best friend."

Both graduated as design majors in 2009. Anderson said they shared many moments together in the Secret Garden. At first, they looked into having their wedding at Old Main, but then thought about how much cooler it would be to have the ceremony in the garden.

"When I studied art here at ASU, we'd have classes, come here to paint and draw," he said. "I always loved this, it was my favorite place to come. It's always been a beautiful place to me and I always kind of envisioned it."

Samantha Harding, one of the guests to the wedding, said she was extremely happy for Hauge whom she said she has known since middle school.

"I met Heather in seventh grade, we've been friends ever since," Harding said. "She left me, well Portland, came here, met him and fell in love. I can't believe it's been nine years."

Although nine years have passed, Harding understands why the two would wait that many years.

"She's a really big organizational planner," Harding said. "So when she was ready, she was like 'OK, I'm ready, I can do this.' "

Most of the wedding party also came from either a fraternity or sorority, all except Hauge's hairstylist and friend Terra Hainsworth and her husband, Eric. They don't know why it took as long as nine years for the two to finally decide to marry each other.

"We don't know, we got married in about nine months," Hainsworth said. "They're perfect for each other though, no doubt."

The evening was full of harp melodies, beautiful floral arrangements and love all around. Both left the garden completely in love and as Mr. and Mrs. Anderson.

"When you meet somebody like that it's totally different from meeting anyone else," Anderson said.
