Otto Pizza and Pastry, at 804 S. Ash Ave., is a family-owned restaurant in Tempe that is known for its homemade dough and unique sauces.
The restaurant uses fresh ingredients to ensure its customers the best flavors. Combining homemade recipes with fresh ingredients, you are guaranteed a mouthful (or a few mouthfuls) of robust flavors.
Compared with the countless pizza, pasta and pastry restaurants in Tempe, Otto should definitely be considered one of the better ones.
Otto offers deliveries as well as takeout. Although the foods here are not as cheap as many fast food chains, for a better quality and a healthier choice, Otto is worth the extra buck.
For many years now, the pizza crusts in Otto have been receiving positive reviews and comments. The crusts are both crispy and chewy at the same time, and they are not too thick but not too thin. You could say that they're "just right" — they have that perfect balance that keeps you wondering and wanting more.
Apart from the crusts, the homemade sauces are one of a kind. There is something about Otto’s savory sauces that makes its pizzas, pastas and raviolis different from the others.
Some of Otto’s popular dishes include the pizzas, spaghetti and (enormous) meatballs and raviolis. Most of the food is homemade, which guarantees patrons unique flavors that cannot be found elsewhere.
Also, the breadsticks are flavorful with an amazing texture. All spaghetti dishes come with two breadsticks, which you can use to clean up the last of your spaghetti sauces.
Otto is a small restaurant that does not have many tables and chairs to accommodate huge parties of dine-in customers, which is the reason why people tend to order for takeout or delivery.
Nonetheless, the interior is modest and simple, with decorations that aim to make customers feel like they are in one of the petite eateries in Italy or France.
Additionally, behind Otto’s counter where customers place their order is the kitchen. It is completely visible by anybody who enters the restaurant. Sometimes, if you enter at the right moment, you will be able to see the owner tossing and spinning the dough to form a pizza crust. It is quite a rare and interesting sight.
Otto Pizza and Pastry has been in Tempe for quite some time now. The restaurant stands out from the conventional pizza and spaghetti places in town because of its exceptional homemade recipes.
If you happen to be in northern Tempe and it’s lunchtime, do try out Otto Pizza and Pastry.
