If there’s one thing I’ve learned in the last week and a half, it’s the severity with which people go about drafting their fantasy football teams.
This is not a game.
Until now, I was only quasi-aware of the importance that came with a good first-round draft pick.
And how could I have overlooked the obvious need for not only a good draft plan, but also a couple of good backup plans? Just in case one might have been in class when his or her draft was scheduled.
I share a residence with my three best friends — who just so happen to be three of the manliest of men and a few of the biggest sports nuts I’ve ever met — so, without trying to be stereotypical, the bachelor pad that I call my home will not be the same until the season is over.
Because, with a good draft team comes a good amount of anything but good clean fun — if your team wins, you possess the bragging rights for the next week.
That’s just how it goes.
So let the games begin.
Bring on the bets, the jokes and the virtual bantering.
Welcome back football season, we’ve missed you.
